Disney Cruise Line to base ship in Miami, return to Europe in 2013

The line will continue to sail out of Port Canaveral with its two newest ships, the Disney Dream, which debuted in 2010 and the Disney Fantasy set to debut in March of this year. Those two ships sail a variety of Bahamas and eastern and western Caribbean itineraries.
The news today was for the line's two older ships, the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. The Disney Magic will be heading to Europe in summer 2013 while the Disney Wonder, currently based on the west coast, will be heading to Miami at the end of 2012.
PortMiami, as it now bills itself, has been on a bit of a roll lately attracting new cruise service. Disney's Miami-bound cruise ship follows similar announcements from Regent Seven Seas, MSC Cruises and Costa Cruises.
The first cruise for the Wonder will be Dec. 23, offering one six-night and one seven-night Caribbean cruise before settling into regular four- and five-night cruises from Miami to the Bahamas and western Caribbean. Those sailings will run from Jan. 5 to May 2, 2013 and will include stops at locations such as Cozumel, Mexico, Grand Cayman, Key West, Nassau and Disney's private Bahamam island, Castaway Cay.

Rates for four- and five-night cruises departing from Miami start at $440 per person for a standard inside stateroom, based on double occupancy.

The Disney Magic, which currently sails out of Port Canaveral, but will be making trips from both New York City and Galveston, Texas in the next year will offer Mediterranean cruises based out of Barcelona, Spain beginning June 1, 2013. Among the new sailings will be a four-night cruise, special 12-night cruises and regular seven-night itineraries.

Rates start at $796 per person for four-night cruises, $1,015 per person for seven-night cruises and $2,244 for 12-night cruises departing from Barcelona for a standard inside stateroom, based on double occupancy.

One other itinerary of note: The Wonder will return to the west coast for Alaskan itineraries, but switch back to the port of Vancouver in 2013. It switched from Vancouver to the Port of Seattle for this year's planned summer sailings.

The Magic, which will make its Galveston debut later this year will sail to western Caribbean ports of call through May 2013.

The two newest vessels, sister ships Disney Dream and Fantasy both with capacities of more than 4,000, will continue to sail out Port Canaverl through 2013.

The Fantasy will sail on seven-night Caribbean itineraries – alternating eastern (St. Maarten and St. Thomas) and western (Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, Cozumel). Special eastern Caribbean sailings, January through April 2013, stop at San Juan, Puerto Rico. All Fantasy itineraries include a stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.
Rates for seven-night Caribbean cruises on the Disney Fantasy start at $1,085 per person for a standard inside stateroom, based on double occupancy.
The Disney Dream will sail three-, four- and five-night cruises from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.
