Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, the newest attraction at Universal Studios, is officially open to the public.
A brief grand-opening ceremony this morning featured characters from the 2010 film "Despicable Me,"which the 3-D motion simulator is based. Also on hand were Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier and Elsie Fisher, the actresses who voiced the sisters in the animated film and the new attraction.
They joined the celebration, set to the tune of "Boogie Fever" and featuring yellow confetti, streamers and fireworks.
Soon after, park guests streamed into the attraction, which is set one year after the events of the film.
The line immediately spilled into the street and snaked up Hollywood Boulevard as far back as the Terminator attraction.
Cosgrove, during an interview on the yellow carpet, said she rode Minion Mayhem twice earlier on Monday.
"Part of the ride is where you feel like you're on a roller coaster for 10 seconds," she said. "It was super-fun."
