SeaWorld Orlando raises some ticket prices

Following in the footsteps of its larger rivals, SeaWorld Orlando said Monday it will raise ticket prices, though the marine park will keep its base prices slightly below those charged by Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.

Effective Tuesday, a one-day adult ticket to SeaWorld will cost $84.99, an increase of 3.7 percent, or $3.

Multi-day passes pairing admission to both SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will jump 8 percent, or $10, to $134.99. And passes combining admission to SeaWorld, Busch Gardens and Aquatica will rise 7.4 percent, or $10, to $144.99.

All of the parks are owned by Orlando-based SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. The company last raised basic ticket prices at its Florida parks in September 2011.

SeaWorld left unchanged its prices for single-day tickets to Aquatica ($49.99) and for SeaWorld-Aquatica combo tickets ($124.99). Annual-pass prices will also remain the same.

A spokesman for SeaWorld noted that various discounts and perks are available. For instance, visitors who purchase SeaWorld tickets or SeaWorld and Busch Gardens combo passes at local guest-service desks get $10 discounts, as do Florida residents who purchase the tickets online. Single-day SeaWorld tickets also include a second day free.

"Our guests and fans tell us that SeaWorld Orlando is an excellent entertainment value. The all-new TurtleTrek is a great example of [how] … SeaWorld Orlando stays a resident and tourist favorite, and how we keep our entertainment offerings fresh," SeaWorld spokesman Nick Gollattscheck said.

SeaWorld's ticket move comes about a month after Disney and Universal enacted rounds of prices increases, with the two larger resorts boosting their basic, one-day passes to $89.
