We talked with Lindsay Wolfington about what makes a song right for OTH, why music is so important to the show, and what Peyton and the gang would have in their CD collections.

We scored an interview with Lindsay Wolfington, music supervisor for One Tree Hill.

One Tree Hill Newsletter: What makes a song or album One Tree Hill-worthy? What qualities do you look for in a song (moodiness, minor keys, provocative lyrics)?

Lindsay Wolfington: We definitely have a sound. Travis's "Reoffender" was on our soundtrack -- that was our first cliffhanger, and that's been the model for what our cliffhanger songs are like. It's a very lush sound [featuring] guitars, piano, and multiple instruments. The words we use are usually heartfelt. At the end of every episode, we use a song over a montage. We call that our coda song. In music, that's the summing up - the ending. Those songs capture the tone of the episode. Usually soaring, often bittersweet.

OTH Newsletter: We received a question from a fan: "I wanted to ask, will there be a soundtrack to the show every season also? Because the songs are so great and I don't know the names and bands, so I was just wondering if there would be [another] soundtrack."

Lindsay Wolfington: There will be a second soundtrack this year that will coincide with a Peyton storyline. We would love to do a soundtrack each year, but that is decided year by year.

Other scoop from Lindsay:
