The current 285-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 replaced a 202-hp, 3.8-liter V-6 for the 2012 model year in both the two-door Wrangler and four-door Wrangler Unlimited.
The new engine not only is more powerful but also more economical. EPA ratings improved to 17/21 mpg city/highway from 15/19 on the old V-6. Along with the new engine, Jeep added an optional five-speed automatic transmission in place of the previously available four-speed automatic.
