Can you buy new Toyota RAV4s with a manual transmission in Canada? Or is there any way you can purchase one from outside of the U.S.?
Whether you buy a RAV4 in the U.S. or Canada, all models are available only with automatic transmission. In either country, 2012 RAV4 models with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine come with a four-speed automatic, and those with the 3.5-liter V-6 have a five-speed automatic.
The all-new 2013 RAV4 continues the trend and only offers an automatic transmission on the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine; the 3.5-liter V-6 is discontinued for 2013. Other smaller SUVs are available with stick shift, however, including the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and Patriot, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, Subaru Forester, Volkswagen Tiguan and others. The Cars.com Vehicle Recommender can help you find SUVs that meet other criteria you might have.
As far as importing a RAV4 from outside the U.S., our advice is to forget that idea. The warranty will be honored only in the country where it was sold; some parts may not be readily available here and most dealers won't want to get involved.
