Terrestrial space oddities

As a newspaper reporter in London in the 1960s, I drove a 300-cc Isetta bubble car. In other words, I was conditioned to think it normal to drive around in a car the size of a washing machine, making similar noises. So, I felt right at home covering the Micro/Mini Car World Meet 2010 in Crystal Lake, Ill., last month.
