Hawaii: If spring break is calling, Kauai may be the answer

Want to learn to surf? Already know how and want to tackle better waves? Like to snorkel? Or is it just a beach with a book for you? Kauai has all that and more. Take your picture where George Clooney ran on the beach in "The Descendants." Or wash that man out of your hair at the beach where "South Pacific" was filmed. It's spring break, Kauai style. Here are a few ideas from a recent trip.

Hanalei Bay's gentle waves are ideal for beginning surfers, while Mom and Dad can walk the beach and check out the sights, just as George Clooney did in "The Descendants." You might even go into town for a cold one at Tahiti Nui, the bar featured in the movie. Or maybe just some shave ice.

Catch that first wave
