Mondavi taught us to find life in wine

1940: Named manager, Sunny St. Helena Winery.

1943: Cesare Mondavi buys the venerable Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena. Robert and his brother, Peter, build major roles at the winery.

1965: Ousted from Charles Krug.

1966: Establishes his own eponymous winery in Oakville.

1980: Opus One, a joint venture between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, is announced.

1993: Robert Mondavi Corp. goes public.

2004: Constellation Brands purchases Robert Mondavi Corp.

2005: Joins two of his children, Tim and Marcia, in launching Continuum Estate.

2008: Dies May 16 in Yountville, age 94.
