Cat causes 2-car collision

A restless cat caused a two-car, head-on collision in Jefferson County on Sunday.

According to the Peninsula Daily News, a 22-year-old Port Hadlock woman was driving a Volkswagen Golf with a 21-year-old passenger on southbound State Route 19 in Port Ludlow about 1:30 p.m. when a cat in the car jumped on her. She lost control of the car and entered oncoming traffic, striking a northbound Toyota Celica head-on.

The man in the Celica was taken to Harrison Medical Center. The extent of his injuries is unknown. The woman and her passenger were taken to Jefferson Healthcare with minor injuries.

Crews from East Jefferson Fire and Rescue and Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue closed the road until about 3 p.m.

The condition of the cat is unknown.
