It didn't take long for Pres. Barack Obama's celebratory election night photo to become the most popular photo of all time on Facebook and Twitter.

Minutes after the major TV networks began calling the presidential race for Obama, a photo of the president and the First Lady embracing was uploaded to Obama's timeline and his Twitter handle.

According to The Atlantic, the photo is now the most-liked Facebook photo of all time. As of Wednesday morning, it had 3.1 million likes and 149,000 comments.

"Four more years," the caption said.

According to Mediabistro, the photo is also the most-retweeted Twitter photo of all time. It has been retweeted more than 680,000 times as of Wednesday morning -- nearly three times that of the previous record-holder, a tweet sent out by Justin Bieber.

"We're all in this together. That's how we campaigned, and that's who we are. Thank you," Obama said in a tweet Tuesday night, signing it "bo."

Gov. Mitt Romney posted his own photo to Facebook, simply saying "Thank you."
