U.S. Marshals arrest suspected shooter Karl Zebe in Everett thanks Washington's Most Wanted tip.Brad Cooper is glad he was carrying his lucky Zippo lighter last March when Snohomish County Detective Brad Walvatne says Karl Zebe shot him.
Investigators say Zebe, a convicted armed robber, was trying to steal Cooper's 58-inch flat screen television when the Lynnwood home owner surprised him. Cooper told Washington's Most Wanted Host David Rose, "He was standing in my house pointing a gun at me." He says even though Zebe told him to stay back, he started towards him and that's when the burglar fired.
Cooper says, "I felt something hit my leg, didn't hurt that bad, it stung a little bit so I kept going and I got about here and the gun was pointed at my face and he asked if I wanted some more so at that point I actually did duck." After Cooper says Zebe bolted and deputies arrived to dust for prints and collect DNA evidence, he went outside for a smoke and says, "I reached into my pocked, pulled out my Zippo and there was a big dent in the back of it. I was standing there talking to my father at the time and I could believe what I was looking at. I put that on the kitchen counter and he said look and see if the slug is there so I reached around in my pocket and there was the slug."
The Zippo lighter stopped the bullet leaving Cooper with just a bruise on his leg. He says, "we've started making jokes about it at work, They say wind proof...I say bullet proof."
Det. Walvatne says, "He could have been hit easily with that bullet and who knows, he might not have been here today."
U.S. Marshals arrested Zebe on September 21st at a home in Everett after he was featured on Washington's Most Wanted.
He's in the Snohomish County Jail on 1-million dollars bail.
Det. Walvatne says, "With the support that we obtained from Washington's Most Wanted as well as the U.S. Marshals, it was tremendous. There is no way that this guy would have been caught as quick if we didn't have you and the U.S. Marshals and our deputies. Cooper is grateful Zebe was arrested and he and his family are especially grateful for that Zippo lighter. "I think that Zippo, I'd like to have it back when the court case is all over. It's my good luck charm because it's been with me through everything."
Det. Walvatne says he will make sure he gets it back, "I don't blame him, I would. It's a very lucky lighter and I might get one myself actually."

He's been busted for an armed robbery where he used a knife to steal from his victim.
The Department of Corrections says Karl Zebe has failed to report in, and believes he's involved in violent behavior right now!
