First, Kurt Cobain gives MTV execs heart palpitations with a false-start of the verboten "Rape Me," then he leads his band through a hard-hitting version of "Lithium." But the finest moments are reserved for the song's end when bassist Krist Novoselic flings his bass into the air at the 4:13 mark, only to conk himself square on the head on its way back down (note his staggering off the set immediately afterward).

The stage soon descends into chaos, with the requisite equipment destruction followed by Dave Grohl grabbing the mike to taunt Axl Rose. Ah, the '90s.
