First, Kurt Cobain gives MTV execs heart palpitations with a false-start of the verboten "Rape Me," then he leads his band through a hard-hitting version of "Lithium." But the finest moments are reserved for the song's end when bassist Krist Novoselic flings his bass into the air at the 4:13 mark, only to conk himself square on the head on its way back down (note his staggering off the set immediately afterward).<br>

The stage soon descends into chaos, with the requisite equipment destruction followed by Dave Grohl grabbing the mike to taunt Axl Rose. Ah, the '90s.<br>
