How to stretch your paycheck
You keep asking yourself: Where has all the money gone?
Of course, you have a good idea: It has gone to spending on groceries, cell phone and cable bills, mortgage and insurance payments, and maybe even on a weekly night out for dinner and on a daily cup of latte. With a few phone calls and adjustments, and some discipline, you can make your paycheck go further. And, hopefully, you can start saving the difference.

Boost your deductibles
You can trim your auto insurance by 15 percent or more if you boost your deductible to $1,000 from $250. Also, increasing your homeowners' deductible to $2,500 from $250 can cut your premium by 30 percent and discourage you from making small claims that could raise your premiums. And if you have policies with more than one insurer, you may want to put all of them together -- and likely get a discount. Be sure to ask your insurer about the markdowns that you qualify for.
